The World Pyro Olympics (WPO) is an annual international pyrotechnic competition and the largest one of its kind worldwide. The event showcases ten participating countries – nine displays from competing countries and an exhibition display from the host country of the competition (Philippines represented by La Mancha Pyro Productions Inc.).
The 2008 World Pyro Olympics was on its 4th year (to include World Pyro Olympics Exhibition in 2004). The event has become an annual tradition and has experienced increasing growth in spectator attendance and media coverage. It was held at the Esplanade, Mall of Asia, Pasay City.
Behind were the two vessels packed with pyrotechnics waiting for the night to unfold.
You have to come personally and set eyes on it live.
It's a different world out there habang kumakain ka ng sinigang na hipon =)
However, admission was not free. You have to buy a ticket somewhere inside the Mall of Asia or to any establishments/restaurants around the area. But you can still attend to the said event for free. Ikot-ikot ka lang sa vicinity ng Esplanade kasi hindi naman lahat mi security. Atin-atin lang yan ha! =D
Latest Buzz: The World Pyro Olympics 2009 will be held at Fort Bonifacio in Taguig City. It will run for five Saturdays, from November 7 until December 5, 2009. This year's edition will be more grander than ever according to the news. It is not just fire works at all. All countries will be blasting their fireworks at synch with the music! Isn't that cool?
